About this A&E District

As an officially designated Maryland Arts and Entertainment District, Snow Hill’s Arts on the River District spans 86 acres of cultural vibrancy and historic charm. This dynamic area includes not only the town’s active downtown shopping district and scenic Pocomoke Riverfront, but also a thriving creative community nestled among historic homes, landmarks, and local treasures like the Julia A. Purnell Museum and the Legacy Mural.

The district serves as a hub for artists, performers, and makers of all kinds — offering a welcoming, collaborative space where creativity is not only celebrated, but supported. Visitors can explore a variety of art galleries, studios, and public art installations, or take part in events, workshops, and performances that reflect the spirit and heritage of Snow Hill.

As an Arts & Entertainment District, Snow Hill celebrates and supports local artists, makers, and performers with accessible gallery spaces, public art, artisan retail, and creative events year-round. Monthly First Friday street festivals transform downtown into a lively open-air arts and music scene, while a variety of other signature events draw locals and visitors alike.
