Douglas Bothner is a Design Partner at Ziger|Snead Architects, an internationally recognized architecture firm based in Baltimore. With more than 30 years of experience, he shapes the firm's design vision across cultural, educational, institutional, religious, and residential work. His projects have earned more than 40 design and practice awards, with residential work published in Dwell, Wallpaper, and Architizer. His design approach is narrative-driven and community-centered, marked by empathy, restraint, and a deep responsiveness to context. Bothner was trained in the visual arts with a focus in painting and art history, and is now an avid photographer working in street and architectural photography focused on the materiality of light and inhabitation of the built environment. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Contemporary Museum in Baltimore and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Friends of the Jones Falls. He earned his Master of Architecture from Yale University School of Architecture, where he received the Drawing Prize, and his BA from Wesleyan University, cum laude. Bothner is a proud resident of Baltimore City, where he lives with his wife Jacky and their two children.
