Berlin A&E District

Berlin is historically charming & artistically alive, offering an eclectic, lively, and diverse district featuring a variety of live music venues, restaurants, glass blowing, museums, and public art. We are the home of the Worcester County Arts Council.

Downtown Berlin is a thriving and diverse community designated both as a Maryland Main Street Community and an Arts & Entertainment District located just 8 miles from Ocean City and Assateague National Seashore. Named the 'Best Small Town for Shopping' by USA Today in both 2018 and 2020, Berlin is also a Main Street America 'Top 10 Great American Main Street'.

Our downtown boasts over 60 retail shops, Mermaid Museum, Ghost Museum, and 15+ dining establishments, live music venues, bakeries, glass blowing, butcher and local seafood market, sweets, antiques, and more.

The Berlin Farmers Market runs every Sunday, 9am-1pm, May through October. This producer's only market has 50+ farmers, food cultivators, a petting farm, live music, art, and more, and won the 'Best Small Event in Maryland' in 2024 by the Maryland Tourism Coalition. Our events include the famous Berlin Bathtub Races, Oktoberfest, Ice Ice Berlin, New Years Eve 6pm Celebration and so much more.

Nearly all of our downtown shops and restaurants feature art from local artists on display and for sale. You can watch glass blowing at Jeff Auxer's Studio and Beach Memories, who create glass jewelry right in their shop. We have public murals, and Berlin is also home to the Worcester County Arts Council.

History is everywhere, with 47 structures on the National Historic Register. The Taylor House Museum is the local archive for all things historic in Berlin. We have benches all over town and public restrooms; plus leashed pets are welcome!

Come visit Berlin and join us for a quiet journey back in time where we are historically charming & artistically alive.
