Delegate Washington is New Appointee to the MSAC
Background in Arts Advocacy a Win for the MSAC
August 20, 2015Press ReleaseMaryland House Speaker Michael E. Busch recently appointed Delegate Alonzo T. Washington who represents District 22 in Prince George’s County as a councilor with the Maryland State Arts Council. His appointment makes him the final and 17th member of the MSAC.
Del. Washington has been a member of the House since December 2012. He is the Deputy Majority Whip, serves on the Ways and Means Committee, Joint Committee on Children, Youth and Families, Joint Committee on Federal Relations, Joint Committee on the Management of Public Funds, and is a member of various committees specializing in education and student achievement.
“Delegate Washington has been a tireless advocate for funding of the arts and for teaching of the arts in our public schools. His passion combined with his previous experience as Chairman of the Gateway Arts District Management Team make him uniquely qualified to serve on the State Arts Council. Alonzo brings with him a wealth of knowledge, energy and a collaborative approach to working with others,” said Speaker Michael E. Busch.
MSAC welcomes Del. Washington to the Council. His term will expire in 2018.
