November 03, 2015Press Release

Baltimore (November 3, 2015) -The new Maryland Marketplace is now open! The Maryland State Arts Council invites Maryland artists of all disciplines to sign-up for the Maryland Artist Registry, and encourages those with online selling sites of their art, crafts or artistic merchandise to opt-in to the Maryland Marketplace.

Shoppers can use this "buy local" tool as a hub for Maryland-made art including books, crafts, music, visual art and much more. All are available for purchase from the individual artists' online stores.

Nearly 240 Maryland artists can sell their art work in the Marketplace and 3,311 artists are listed on the Maryland Artist Registry.

While the Maryland Marketplace directs buyers and gift-givers to Maryland artists' online selling sites, the focus of the Maryland Artist Registry continues to be connecting Maryland artists, even those who don't sell online, with opportunities and exposure. The Artist Registry supports audio, jpeg and PDF files, as well as embedded video.

Artists already registered in the Maryland Artist Registry can opt-in to the Maryland Art Marketplace by logging in and editing their account. Those who are not already on the Maryland Artist Registry should create an account, and opt-in to the Maryland Marketplace during the sign-up process. For questions or assistance, email Paul Shortt, the registry administrator.
