Maryland Folklife Festival Returns
Creative Alliance played host to the fifth annual Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival on June 13. Among the hundreds of visitors to the free event was First Lady Yumi Hogan. An artist herself, she took in a Korean drumming show and enjoyed numerous demonstrations including shipbuilding, drum making and poster printing.The day’s highlights included dance competitions, live bands, ethnic foods and crab picking.The Maryland Folklife Program documents, promotes and sustains living traditions through Maryland Traditions, its statewide partnership initiative. The program offers Apprenticeship and Project grants, the annual Achievement in Living Traditions and Arts (ALTA) Awards and the Maryland Traditions Folklife Festival. Arts July Maryland.
