Description: A one hour feature episode of “Tapestry of the Times” on WYPR Radio. This episode – which was a collaboration between Maryland Traditions and WYPR – focuses on traditional music-makers from Cecil County – relatives and friends of the late NEA Heritage Award winner and banjo player Ola Belle Reed of Rising Sun, Maryland. The episode consists of original field recordings by Cliff Murphy, Maryland Traditions Co-Director, and interview recordings by Aaron Henkin from WYPR. Smithsonian Folkways recordings of Ola Belle Reed will also be played. The music featured illustrates the dynamic impact of living traditions from Cecil County on national forms of old-time, country, and bluegrass music.
Tapestry of the Times is an original program of WYPR, produced by Aaron Henkin with assistance from Smithsonian Folkways.
