Artist Statement

Art is that place where intuition and craft are married. To make visual art is to use a visual language for the study of relationships. In my work, primarily painting and sculpture, the language of art is the connection between two worlds; representation and abstraction. Art is the witness and the reflection of everything. To make art is to show all facets of beauty; balance and imbalance, perfection and imperfection. Art is the mining and the distilling of all the perceptions and sensations of the world around us. These perceptions and sensations are the forces that inspire me to communicate the essence of what I see and feel, through the language of art: line, form, shape and color. The vision is to engage the cerebral with the whimsical to create that which is simultaneously intimate and monumental. I hope that the vision is generous enough to support both.
