I have been drawing and painting as far back as my memories take me. I grew up in northeast Baltimore and now live in Anne Arundel County, Maryland with my husband and Siberian Husky. Alot of my inspirations come from my love of history, the many historical novels I read, and stories from my parents, grandparents, uncles, and aunts. I have a rich German-French heritage which I draw from. I loved listening to stories that my old relatives would tell. Stories about my great-grandparents, who were farmers in what is now Baltimore Countty, who had 18 children. Seventeen boys and the last a girl! My maternal grandfather was a "jack of all trades". He was an oysterman out of Baltimore for awhile and a farmer in Monkton, Maryland.
Each one of my paintings is from a time in the past. A much simpler and less stressful time. I start each work with a story in my head. I picture the place, the time, and the people who are in the picture. My work is mostly from my imagination and daydreams. When people look at my work I want them to be transported back to that gentle time and get involved in that story. I love doing the small details of each painting. When people comment about my work they always say that they find some different little detail each time they look.at it.
My work is presently being shown and represented at the GINA Gallery in Tel Aviv, Israel. I have been listed on The Early American Life Directory of Traditional American Crafts several times. My painting, A MARYLAND CRABFEAST, was chosen for the AARP annual calender in 2009. I was listed in 2009 as an emerging artist by the Ann Marie Garden Artfest in Solomons, Maryland. Many of my images are featured nationally and internationally on puzzles, prints, calenders, and cards.
