Artist StatementI have been interested in art since childhood. Following art school, I have spent over 30 years as an advertising/graphic design professional. Recently, I was able to begin painting again in earnest. My work consists of landscapes in acrylic. I like art that makes a strong statement, and these paintings reflect this with bold colors and spontaneous brushwork. In my work, the actual landscape becomes the starting point for artistic exploration and imagination. Artists whose work I especially admire include Maurice de Vlaminck, Andre Derain, Paul Cezanne, Vincent Van Gogh, Grace Hartigan, George Bellows, Wolf Kahn, Raoul Dufy, Henry Finkelstein, and John Constable. I hope to connect my work with a wider audience and see if a market exists for it. I plan to continue painting and see it as an important part of my life for years to come.
