Artist Bio

Richard Roussell is a conceptual sculptor emphasizing the concepts of space, time, and movement through time. He creates thought-provoking, aesthetically pleasing pieces with the highest quality craftsmanship. He works in metals- formed and cast, and wood. He creates large scale outdoor work as well as smaller gallery size works. In 1992, he earned his MFA at Rinehart School of Sculpture, MICA under the direction of Norman Carlberg. He was presented the Amelia Rothschild award upon his Graduation. He earned his BFA at Oklahoma State University, mentored by Dave Roberts. He won Art Student of the Year in 1988. He had the privilege of being a friend and assistant to Salvatore Scarpitta for many years. This treasured relationship truly enriched his life as well as his artistic and human sensibilities. His work is in collections and has been shown around the world: including Baltimore, Washington DC, New York, Seattle, Dallas, Oklahoma (several cities), Amsterdam, and Tel Aviv.
