Artist StatementI was surrounded by art in my family all my life with their medium being drawing. I started photography in my sophomore year of high school. Starting off it was just an elective class to take and then I realized I enjoyed taking photos. I am an artist because I like to create awareness. There is art everywhere if you are looking at it in the right perspective.
Raina has a number of influences varying from the late Gordon Parks to the more recent Linda Day-Clark. She started taking photography courses in high school and is now majoring in Urban Arts with a concentration in photography. Throughout these years she has entered many contests, done events, and is now on her school magazine as a photographer, her Class Historian, and in a school communications club. She believes that art is the sole outlet for everyone whether they know it or not. With her art she would like to bring beauty to things that would not have been seen as aesthetically pleasing and give it a new essence through her point of view.
