Artist Bio

Rachel Debuque is a visual artist and designer whose work spans installation, sculpture, video, and performance. Her work investigates ambiguity in objects, space, identity, and performance. Her work has been exhibited extensively including at The Cue Foundation (New York, NY), Vox Populi (Philadelphia, PA), and The Kalzen Art Center (Washington, DC). Debuque was an artist in residence at The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and a Southern Constellations Fellow at Elsewhere: A Living Museum. Her work has been featured in The Huffington Post, Washington City Paper, Bmore Art, Daily Serving, Maake Magazine, and ART 21 Magazine.

Her multi-disciplinary background is reflected in her collaboration, PLAKOOKEE. ln partnership with artist Justin Plakas, PLAKOOKEE creates work that ranges from socially engaged residency projects to installations, video and design.

She is currently an assistant professor at George Mason University's School of Art and Design. She received her MFA at the University of Georgia with a focus in Sculpture and her BFA degree at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
