Artist StatementIt would be difficult to image a life without time to paint. Art has always been an important part in my life, and at times, provides a form of mediation and solace. I find inspirations for paintings all around me in shadows, alley ways, stairs, cats, clouds, everyday items around the house. I am particularly drawn to still life work, creating a scene that draws the viewer in and questions what is happening. Everywhere I look I can see the possibility of a new painting. After more than fifty years of painting, I continue to challenge myself. The learning and growing never stops, as the process for each new work of art shows me not only where I am in my art, but where I want to go.
Pat Lang, a native Marylander, living in Easton, MD, who began painting in her late teens, applying what she could learn through trial and error, visiting galleries to study famous works, and reading art instruction publications. As she experimented on techniques new to her, she used these experiences to master her own personal style.
Pat works primarily in oils. Her subject matter varies from landscapes to seascapes to still life.
She has exhibited her work at numerous Maryland galleries and art shows to include:
