…Enlightenment for the Dark Ages
Remember that saying…”if you don’t like when you’re living, move to a different century”? So that’s what I did. Whenever I can morph time I’ve been maneuvering between the 5th-10th centuries AD. At home, on weekends and weeknights, even at work. Inspired by Vikings, The Last Kingdom, Valhalla Rising and Beowulf …I’ve kind of gone Native. Learning and trying to master techniques from the first millennia has been amazing. Techniques not used since the 7-9th century…This has been the best journey ever!
....The Art of Abandonment
Living just North of Baltimore City since 1988, I drive the city streets daily to my job in East Baltimore. After too many years of complaining and making disparaging comments about the state of affairs in Baltimore, I decided to stop the car, get out and start looking around. Dilapidated housing, discarded and abandoned objects are everywhere. Once someone else’s possession... I revel in their discovery!
Some objects have more appeal than others. I try to use them in a new way of story-telling while preserving something of their original purpose. I also make photographs using an iPhone6 and sometimes incorporate these images into my work
