Artist Bio

Mark L. Power is a photographer/critic/educator currently living in Southern Maryland. In 1998 after twenty-seven years, he retired as a professor of photography at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington.

 

His photography has been featured in a number of galleries and museums both in the US and Europe. His work is in a number of museum collections.

 

He is a published art critic, writing for the Washington Post, Art in America, the New Art Examiner and the Times Literary Supplement among other publications. He is the author of a number of book introductions.

 

In 1995, he was awarded a Fellowship grant from the Virginia Museum of Fine Art in Richmond. In 2008 he received a Bader Fund grant and in 2014 he was awarded a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
