Artist StatementNature is my starting point because it is a manifestation of meticulous organization, despite its deceptively apparent randomness. Natural selection indicates that everything living is a approaching a perfect version of itself, i.e. the least vulnerable one remains the one still thriving. In nature, practicality is a necessity, and without function, things become extraneous to needs. Much of my work uses or references found materials that could be considered residual waste, but only because these materials have been removed from their original context. I use these materials in combination with more intangible phenomena, such as the passage of time. I employ systematic methods, to ultimately form seemingly arbitrary structures, and in turn, I strive to explicate the intersection of the tangible and the intangible.
