Artist StatementPhotography stops a moment in time, a moment that will never exist again. But maybe that moment never really existed in the first place. I strive to bring a thought, a dream, a flash of memory to life. A fictitious story of invented melodrama.
Lauren Castellana is a conceptual and commercial photographer from Baltimore, Maryland. She has a BFA in Photography from Towson Univeristy and is currently taking classes in graduate school. Lauren works at TU as the Assistant Director of Photographic Services for University Marketing & Communication.
Her fine art work focuses on invented melodrama using a singular female character. These images address issues of loneliness, isolation and personal reflection. The use of a vibrant cinematic color scheme is prevalent throughout the work, using red and blue to help convey the imbalance of mood.
