Artist Statement

I am Larry Jones, a self-taught artistic engineer working in Maryland. My artistic focus is abstract art—currently acrylic paintings and steel sculptures. My steel sculptures are hand bent and fabricated into their individual shapes making my work completely original from conception to finished product. My ultimate goal is to make my perception of art your reality. Most recently, I have started exploring the blending of natural products, and other media into abstract art designs, while I have blended natural themes into my past work, such as my sculptural pieces Blooming Angel and The Spirit of the Earth by their titles and shapes leading to a more organic and holistic theme. The Iron Mule is designed more as homage to those involved in working or creating organically in natural settings. I want to show pieces that I have truly enjoyed creating and to show a range of themes in my designs. My sculptures and paintings are a means through which I can explore the concepts of movement, my perception of abstract and the blending of the two. The process of exploring how various products meld into one to create a very unique product drives me to constantly create.
