Artist Bio

Krista Schlyer is a conservation photographer and writer living Mount Rainier, Maryland. Her
focus is long-term conservation documentary projects with subjects ranging from the US-Mexico
borderlands to the Anacostia River watershed. Schlyer’s work has been published by the BBC,
Orion, The Nature Conservancy, High Country News, Newsweek and others. She is the author of
three books including Continental Divide: Wildlife, People and the Border Wall, winner of the
National Outdoor Book Award and Ansel Adams Award for Conservation Photography.
Schlyer’s book, Almost Anywhere, chronicles a road trip to America’s national parks and
wilderness areas. Her newest book, River of Redemption: Almanac of Life on the Anacostia,
released in November 2018, tells a culturally and biologically rich story of the Anacostia River
watershed.
