Artist Statement

Tillman owes much of her personal affinity for performance and pageantry to her religious upbringing, including a stint in Dallas, TX at an unaccredited Bible College which toed the line of cult status. With each piece, Tillman is ready to admit that she may be hiding behind a smokescreen of silliness, but that inner voice may just be an old trope from the past begging her to please be more earnest. Tillman is working on ridding herself of her obsession with right and wrong.

Artist Bio

Tillman is mostly a self taught designer, illustrator, and painter. She loved art and photography classes in middle and highschool, but thought that this was ultimately, time wasted. There wasn't much of an emphasis or appreciation of art or culture growing up and spent most of her time preparing to be a good wife someday through ladies small groups at church. Tillman has always been artistically expressive and has always loved music (an accepted art form, as long as it was godly). After finally freeing herself from the Christian church around 2012,  she acquired an associates degree from an online graphic design program through Academy of Art University, but mostly fell in love with her drawing and art history classes. After pursuing graphic design opportunities a few years after graduating, Kelci decided to pursue art -- wherever it took her.
