I am a life-long learner. My professors have described me as a "watercolor master," but I am competent in acrylic, oil, and my favorite media is pastel.
As a teenager, I studied commercial art and design before graduating from high school in Baltimore City. I then completed my undergraduate studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Though I majored in Illustration, I loved printmaking and black and white photography as well. As an illustration student, I explored mixed media in two dimensional formats, focusing on storyboards and children's book illustration. Upon graduating, I worked in New York City as a web and Photoshop designer. I currently hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pratt, and a Masters in Education from Towson University.
My love for learning prompted my enrollent at the Art Students League, where I discovered the joys of pastel. I studied pastel and anatomy under several master teachers, and then enrolled in a teaching program. I have been a certified art educator for 13 years, teaching grades K-12. I have also taught Advanced Placement Studio Art. When I am not teaching, I spend my summers with my son, creating in my home studio, and running my online, crochet business.
As a teaching artist, I can provide instruction in drawing, painting, and preparation for AP exams. My educational skills include professional development, art integration, and curriculum design. My creative skills include calligraphy, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop design, portraiture, and illustration.
