I was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. In 2002 I became intrigued with the idea of painting. I immediately fell in love with the creative process and continued to take classes over the next six years in drawing, watercolor and oil painting. I expanded my skill set through private instruction, classes at the Department of Continuing Studies at both the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, DC.
My primary professional goal is to pursue a life which embraces and encourages the creative process and my entrepreneurial spirit. As a result, after years of research and preparation, I opened Root Studio in Columbia, Maryland in 2017. Root Studio is founded on the principle of enhancing mindfulness through creative practice. Our mission is to foster well-being and personal development which results in happier humans. Creative practice in any genre is an ideal way to increase sensory perception, generation of motor commands, spatial reasoning, conscious thought, language, problem-solving abilities, abstract reasoning, improvisation and innovation skills. With many different facilities all under one roof, Root Studio offers a wealth of opportunities for anyone curious to explore the benefits of artistic expression.
