I grew up in Nebraska but have spent more than 20 years living on the Chesapeake Bay, and currently live in St. Michaels, MD. I am fortunate to be a member of the St. Michaels Art League.
A lot of artist bios that I read are flowery poetic descriptions with deep meaning and insight into their inspirations. However, I'm still a Midwestern plain speaking kinda woman, so with that said, I am a self taught artist and just plain paint what I think is beautiful or meaningful to me.
I started painting portraits in my teens and early 20's, but moved on to a career in remodeling design. The only paintings I did for the past 40 years were illustrations showing how the projects would look when they were built.
Now that I'm retired, I am back to my first love which is portraits of people and pets, as well as trying some new things like flowers, landscapes, and still life paintings. My primary medium is oil painting, however I am also exploring many others such as pastels and watercolors. It’s a great adventure and a joy to have the time and freedom to engage in my passion.
