Iraida Poberezhnaya is a concert harpist with a broad repertoire. She has performed as a soloistand with ensembles in Europe and the US, including the Stanislavski Opera and Ballet Theatre(Moscow), Santa Barbara (California) Symphony, Santa Maria (Califomia) Philharmonic,Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Tulsa Opera.She holds two doctoral degrees in harp, from the Peabody and Moscow Conservatories. InMoscow she studied with the eminent harpist Olga Erdeli, a People's Artist of Russia.Dr. Poberezhnayawas a winner at the Intemational Harp Competition (Baku, 1990), and aparticipant in the Intemational Harp Contest in Israel (Jerusalem, 1995) and the USAInternational Harp Competition (Bloomington, 1995). Her CD releases include The Music ofMary with Rudolph Lucente (Vantage Records, 1998), Silvestre Revueltas with the SantaBarbara symphony (Koch, 1999), and a solo album, La source (IIAM, 2010).Dr. Poberezltnayahas taught at the Azerbaijan Conservatory of Music, Baltimore Music School,and V/ilkes-Barre University. An active member of American Harp Society, she has served asPresident of the Santa BarbaraHarp Society and the Oklahoma City Harp Society, and directedthe Santa Barbara Harp Festival (2000-02). Her articles have been published in international harpmagazines and journals. She performs often solo as well as in duo with her husband, IldarKhannanov, piano, in United States and Europe.Iraida is often a guest artist at Embassies Events. In20I2 she was awarded with a specialcertificate from Arts and Science Centre, Russian Consulate, Washington DC as recognition forbuilding cultural bridges between two countries.
