Artist StatementI express myself through photography, watercolors, and acrylics, and possible combinations of each. Depending on the subject; the medium base can be canvas, watercolor paper, or digital images printed on archival paper. I am constantly exploring new techniques through classes, workshops, and practice. My painting is rather loose because as a photographer; when I want realism, I'll take a photograph. When I want a bit of fancy or fantasy, I'll get inspiration from my photographs, other artists, or the abundance of images all around us. For the past years, I have specialized in portrait and illustrative photography mostly of females and some local Baltimore images. As I explore more the world of painting, I am expanding into minimalist landscapes, florals, and simple illustrations. My portrait paintings are based on some of my photographs as references. Most of my florals are loose and fanciful paintings or they are my post processed photographs or a combination. My minimalist landscapes are combinations of fantasy and sometimes other images. My simple illustrations are fanciful interpretations of other images, sometimes integrated with real happenings or wonderful quotes. Why am I an artist, painter, photographer? I want to share my appreciation of beauty, composition and color. I have no desire or aspirations of pigeonholing myself or my art into a specific medium or subject matter. I just want to share my art, whatever, I feel like doing for a day, week, or maybe even a month. I also enjoy sharing new techniques and tools as I explore. I'll go back and forth trough the mediums, the subject matters, and the feelings and joy that comes from working with each. There is no goal, only the joy of exploring, creating and sharing.
