Artist StatementI believe music is about joy. I would love to add joy to your project, event, classroom or workplace.
“My name is Frankie Valinda Ghee. I am a singer-songwriter/teaching artist. I was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, grew up in Great Falls, Montana, and moved to Spokane, Washington in the late 80’s. I have had the great fortune to experience life from many different perspectives including, story- teller, waitress, medical technologist, poet, desk-clerk, salad prep person, performer, choir teacher, aerobics instructor, song writer, program director, small business owner and lifetime student. In June of 2013, I began creating and sharing my creations through FrankieGhee.com, LLC (Frankie Valinda Ghee Creative Projects) and AROUND THE PIANO/Character Building Songs for Teens and Preteens. I love what I do as a singer/performer and as a teaching artist. I am grateful!”
Singer and songwriter, Frankie Valinda Ghee currently splits her time between Prince George’s County, Maryland and Spokane, Washington. She has been singing, writing and performing for over 45 years. She has performed professionally as a soloist and with ensembles in a variety of genres including, jazz, rock, folk, pop, country, and classical. She has been featured as lead and back-up vocalist on several recordings including, most recently, two solo folk CD’s which are currently available through iTunes, and CDbaby.com.
Frankie’s current project is solo, acoustic music. In addition to her original music, Frankie performs covers of 80’s pop/rock, jazz standards, and oldies (50s-2010s). The tie that binds her selections together is joy. These are memorable, sing-able songs. Frankie loves music and wants her audiences to share joy. While many of the songs might be sad on the face, Frankie loves a good sing-a-long and invites her audiences to join in from their seats when they hear one they know.
Frankie’s style is simple and easy to listen to, just a guitar, a voice and her audience.
This music is perfect for meal times, special events in small or large settings. She has enjoyed performing in Prince George’s County, Annapolis and the Washington D.C. area in addition to Eastern Washington, Northern Idaho and Montana. She performs for community events, neighborhood festivals, family gatherings, coffee houses, garden tours, night clubs, store openings and private events. Frankie can be found performing/busking live for visitors at RIO Washingtonian in Gaithersburg, MD beginning spring 2019.
Frankie was inspired by her twelve plus years of teaching middle school choir, to create and develop a Music and Character Education integration program called AROUND THE PIANO/Character Building Songs (ATP), allaroundthepiano.com. She is currently working in collaboration with the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council and Prince George’s County Public Schools as an Artist in Residence.
Through ATP Frankie brings group singing, character exploration and team-building to participants of all ages and a wide variety of backgrounds, abilities and skill levels. Frankie has earned a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Learning. She has BA in Music Education and a BS in Microbiology.
