Artist Statement

I believe there are so many people today that have gone through something in their lives that has created a feeling of separation and a loss of their sense of self. Be it a divorce, a death, some other traumatic event or just life in general. There is something about our relationship to the natural world that creates a feeling of connection and belonging. Be it a memory or just a reminder that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves and that we do matter in this world. I would like everyone to feel this connection. The connections to people and places are very important to us and our well-being. They bring us a sense of peace and soothe our souls. I paint from a place of connection and peace. Many people describe my paintings as peaceful, beautiful and serene. I have a desire to bring more of that into people’s lives. A place where they can drift away from their daily stresses and connect with the scene depicted in the painting. My mission with my paintings, is that they are a place you can reach that peacefulness and create a sense of expression in your home and work space, bringing you back to your connection to nature. A place to take a moment out of your busy life, take a deep breath and re-connect with the peacefulness that is hiding in your soul.

Artist Bio

As a youngster, I spent countless hours outside observing nature. I watched everything, I learned and I recorded what I saw. I connected deeply with nature and the planet we call home. I found such diversity in the colors and textures. I observed the way the light danced on the varied surfaces found there and I loved spending time outside in the warmth of the sun. I have never stopped spending time looking at all nature provides and recording not just what I see but also what I feel.

I went on to further my skills at the Maryland Institute College of Art where I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. I have since taken classes both in person and online to further improve my skills. I am a member of the Oil Painters of America and the Plein Air Painters of the Chesapeake Bay. I work out of my home studio in the countryside of Maryland's eastern shore, surrounded by goats and chickens, and not far from the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.
