Artist StatementI love the challenges of figurative painting. Also, I am interested in the intersections of modern life and the natural world. The observation of animals gives me clues as to what is ephemeral and what is constant.
I grew up on a farm on Maryland's Eastern Shore. In 1966, I went to college in Dallas at SMU, where I met my husband. We stayed in Texas with our two children until 1978, when we moved to Baltimore. In 1978, I began a degree program at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, graduating cum laude in 1985. I have been painting professionally since. Together, my husband and I have been active in supporting the arts in Baltimore, notably the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
