Artist Statement
I approach my work fueled by an interest in the stuff of science: its methodologies, abstract concepts, paradoxes, and its potential discoveries. Those underlying influences play themselves out while compositionally trying to juxtapose layered elements of order vs. chaos, precision vs. randomness, controlled pre-planned techniques vs. spontaneous gestural strokes, and painting vs. printing. The procedural method used to arrive at each work is as important to me as the finished work. Inventing new ways to isolate certain painterly or even non-painterly events, I continue to explore the problem of painting through my own visual language.
