Artist StatementMy aesthetic infuses color, texture, light and shadow play to portray a balance of realism with a bold, graphic influence. Working from self-composed photographs, I focus on the details of the isolated object to capture the quiet and complex beauty in each subject.
Amanda has always loved to create. Having grown up near Washington, DC and its world-renowned museums, she was exposed to art, architecture and design from an early age.
A graphic designer by trade, Amanda has spent the last 17+ years designing in-house for a global, organic beverage brand. Her love for fine arts informed her work yet she always looked for other ways to express her creativity — and has shelves of pottery and baskets of knitting projects to prove it! She began painting in 2018, pulling some of her focus away from the computer and onto the easel. She continues to freelance design.
Inspired by color, texture and light, with a meticulous attention to detail, Amanda paints contemporary realism with a focus on the isolated object. She photographs her own reference images from everyday life, travel and whatever else inspires her. Her graphic design background comes across in her bold, crisp style.
When Amanda isn’t painting in her home studio, designing, or spending time with her family, she can be found exploring new cities in search of photo-worthy public art and the perfect meal.
Amanda lives in Bethesda, Maryland, with her husband and two teenage sons.
