Residency Description

“Music Is All Around Us!” – a residency promoting active listening to the sounds around us, learning about basic music elements, matching them up to animals and natures (i.e. crickets = beat & rhythm; wolves = pitch etc.), and natural sounds (i.e. rain = dynamics; wind = melody). The residency culminates in composing and performing in “Great Animal Orchestras,” using our bodies and instruments, both found and traditional, as members of the orchestra. Music elements, setting and story/emotion are all stressed, along with the necessary awareness of drawing inspiration from one’s natural surrounding.
