Artist StatementI begin painting what I see which is altered through my eyes with vibrant colors and busy patterns. Frequently appearing images of sweet treats and candy in my painting replace majority of the physical environment. The bright colors and vivacity in candy shops strongly exist in my mind. Thus, the painting is no longer imagination but my invented reality. Every work is an attempt to capture my discovery, and each image is followed by immediate sketching. The intense hue of tempera paint enables me to express my vivid emotional experience. The final touch involves outlining with permanent marker. This process of defining my work allows me to capture these images and solidifies them as real.
