Artist StatementI just want my art to be seen and change anyone who gets to see it, weather it is good or bad. As long as it get a reation.
My name is Ryan Wineke. I was born on June 4 1982 in baltimore, Md. The first drawing that I created that change me. Was at the age of 12. It was of my father as I wached him slowy fade away from heart disease, while waiting for a heart transplant. He received the heart transplant which saved his life and unknowingly at the time it saved my life. After high school I discovered that I had the same heart disease that my father had. The disease didn’t deter me for doing anything and everything for a few years. This is the time I started experimenting with oil paints. Then everything started slowly fading away. The ability to work, to walk, and at the worst art was gone. I was hospitalized in September of 2008 and on October 9 2008 I received my transplanted heart. So its easy to say that my art is pulled from all of the things I have been through and the pain and constant thoughts of death. More, It reflects what I would have lost not my body but what is more important, the moments that made and continue to make me who I am.
