Artist Statement

I paint because I can’t remember a time when I didn’t. The need for a cathartic confessional outlet leads me to illustrate my thoughts, experiences and life’s enigmas in a figurative collage of symbols—a narrative code so to speak. Painting in layers with gouache, inks and pencil on illustration board as I once did as a graphic artist, allows me the kind of predictability I need to reveal the details behind the spatters of images in my minds eye.
