Artist Statement

Through the artifacts that remain we believe we understand the stories of places and times we have not personally experienced. In reality we have no way of knowing if those artifacts reflect a reality or if they are artifice. My artwork captures moments in a narrative and expresses them as artifacts (or sometimes artifice). In many cases the narrative is autobiographical, but through the reduction of the story to a few simple objects I leave room for the viewer's imagination to write its own story.

Artist Bio

Megan Van Wagoner grew up amidst America's rust belt in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She is currently based in the Baltimore-Washington area, but is still full of midwest practicality. She currently teaches ceramics and graphic design at Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Maryland.
