Kelsey is a Baltimore transplant from Hot Springs, Arkansas. A MICA alumna, she works primarily in collage and textiles, always using bright bold colors. Her current series of collages border between surreal genre scenes & abstract landscapes created by layering washes of vibrant guache tones in squiggly line patterns that build up around the appropriated assemblage of images and accented with pools of glitter or sequins, creating a fantastical and almost psychedelic experience for the viewer. Her textile work includes a 10ft by 15ft tent installation made of hand-dyed muslin and cotton yardage that is sewn together in a patchwork or "crazy quilt" manner. Her short-term goal as an artist is to take on more installation opportunities and to unify her collage & textile work into large scale wall pieces & installations.
