Artist StatementMy paintings are a conversation between the paint and the imagery. Painting, for me, is about the movement of putting paint down on canvas and moving the brush and my body from one side to the other. It is about an experience. The experience of focus, challenging your opponents, and battling your instincts to push further or hold back. Through movement and images I am exploring the roles and instincts of competition. I am searching for that blood rushing moment of still silence or chaotic, deafening noise. The moment you find your bodies limitations, where it’s exhausting and exhilarating to push past your boundaries, past your opponents, yet you’re constantly comparing yourself to the other side.
