Artist StatementI absolutely love to paint. I have been an artist all my life and take pleasure in interpreting the world as I see it. My paintings are abstract with influences from the Impressionist movement. They feature visible brush strokes and the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience. I continue to paint for others because there is nothing better in life than to do what you love as well as sharing it with others. I want to invoke a memory of a person’s past, paint a place that is dear to one’s heart, or simply make people think. My paintings are unique because they are different. My skewed perception of space and distance gives my work an abstract element to my realistic concepts. I also paint using palette knives. In my work, the paint is very thick and the knife stokes are visible, adding expressiveness to the paintings. The strength and emotion in my work are readily apparent. I hope you enjoy interpreting my paintings with your own imagination.
I am a graduate of the University of Maryland (BA). I bring many disparate elements into my work - my love of nature, music, love, friendship; and as I move into the various stages in my life, I try to let these influences shape my work. I want to turn this talent I have into a stable career. I truly believe I am meant to create paintings for myself and others, and I want to fully commit myself to this lifelong passion.
