Artist Statement

As a fiber artist it is my intention to have my art be looked at as an every changing and evolving medium. To spread the word that this is not your Grandmothers hand work.

Artist Bio

In my hands I have always had fibre. If I wasn't working with wool -knitting/crocheting, fabric- quilting,reeds-baskets,beads-stringing,it was weeds and gardening. My hands have and are always busy creating.Like every artist something always surfaces to the top of what is the most important and for me it is Traditional Rug Hooking. Working with 100% wool flannel, either new or recycled and creating designs is the one that captures all my free time. There are so many aspects to this art. I dye or over dye the wool using amazing colors. Then it is cut into stripes and pulled up through 100% linen fabric. There is a certain calmness that happens when I am hooking, the rhythm of loops being pulled and watching the life come into my work.
In the 35 or so years I have been hooking, I have received my teacher certification, been published in Rug Hooking Magazine and juried into Celebrations, a book of the best of the best for 2014 and have taught classes at varies venues. Rug Hooking is a very basic and simple process and oh so challenging.
