Carol McClees, a native New Englander, married a native Marylander and lives in Baltimore where she enjoys the longer sailing season. Sailing around the Chesapeake Bay on, Skean Dhu, encourages her to better understand the beauty and brilliance of outdoor artistry.
Inspired by nature, animals, architecture, and above all the human connection, Carol McClees aspires to capture the essence and freshness of her broad subject range using pleasing design, broad strokes, lively color and vibration of light and shadows. With each breathtaking image, Carol envisions a painting with many color variations. She endeavors to bring to life not only the environment around her, but also the beloved animals in others’ lives. As Carol takes her brush to canvas, her goal is to capture the balance between the intensity and the atmosphere of color possibilities so that the painting comes alive. Alive with COLOR!
Art, a life-long passion, is now a full time career. She hopes that her life and career experiences in the medical, business, development, maritime and art fields add richness and complexity to her artistic representation of each painting subject matter.
Carol has studied with numerous artists over the years: Nancy Howell, Cedric and Joanette Egeli, Jean Brinton-Jaecks, and most recently, Carol Lee Thompson. All have inspired Carol to paint with her mind through laughter, candor and a genuine spirit in search of the truth. Just returning from Great Spruce Head Island Art Week 2013, she feels blessed to be included among such a select group of national artists. Workshops with David Leffel, Kenn Backhaus, Scott Christensen, Scott Powers and Carolyn Egeli have stretched Carol to find greater wisdom and sign-posts toward greater knowledge and growth.
