Born in Maryland, Carmen Leitch started working on art as a young child. She grew to learn more about drawing, painting and photography throughout her life and came to pursue it as a passion. As an avid traveler, she has taken photos in over 50 countries around the world. Carmen’s fine art has appeared in juried and group shows in cities across North America, including Baltimore, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston and New York City, as well as in France and Brazil. Her photography has been featured in Baltimore Magazine.
She pays the bills by working as a research specialist in a medical genetics laboratory. She attained a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and has subsequently worked in academic research for over 15 years. Her experimental results have contributed to scientific advancement and she is credited as a co-author on over 25 peer-reviewed research papers in which her data and scientific photography appears, including in such internationally renowned journals as Nature and Cell.
While she isn’t painting, taking photos or experimenting, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, crocheting, cooking and most of all, traveling.
