July 22, 2009 Update To Maryland State Arts Council Grantees: The State of Maryland, through the Department of Business & Economic Development and the Maryland State Arts Council, is the single largest contributor to the arts in Maryland. No other organization, in most cases, public or private, invests more to strengthen and sustain Maryland’s vibrant arts community than your state government. We count on grant recipients like you to recognize and acknowledge the state’s financial commitment whenever and wherever possible. This acknowledgment is a fundamental part of our effort to leverage the value of the Maryland State Arts Council grants and to communicate the importance of the economic impact of the arts in Maryland. In this economic climate especially, it is important to continue to make our citizens aware of the contributions of the arts and the arts council.
